Oil and FIlters

Silicone hose kits now available!!!

I ran one on the only truck I've owned with an auto trans. (79 Chevy). I was very pleased with the results. It cut down the deposits in the pan and the fluid seemed to stay alot cleaner.

I put one on my truck when it was new in the fall of 96 & it works fine. (182k now) The spin on filters down to 10 micron, and flows 20gpm. The filter in the transmission only filters 40-50 micron. Mine came from Tractor Supply, it's a Cross hydraulic filter for wood splitter return lines. It has 3/4" pipe thread in & out's, a check valve, and a port for a temp probe. The whole thing cost about $25. 00 at the time. I got some 3/4"-1/2" barb fittings, and spliced it into the rubber line going into the hot side of the cooler, mounted the housing horizontally on the cross member ahead of the steering gear. Like the above post says, keeps the fluid clean, less residue in the pan, and adds a little oil capacity to your system. I have a single Geno's oil temp gauge for my transmission temp, and I got an extra probe for engine oil temp, taken at the port in the filter housing. I run both wires into an "on-on" switch, and toggle back & forth depending on which reading I want to watch. (Don't forget to idle your truck in"N", not "P")

thanks for the posts so far guys, sounds like a good investment for safe guarding Amsoil transmission fluid. it holds 18 qts now!  :(
