I have the cross over line installed with the transmission sending unit port, I have read about taking the check valve out of this line. Why would you do that???:--)

There's already one..........

In the fitting coming out of the heat exchanger tank. That fitting that the line connects to has one in it. You can take it out or take the one out of the new hose. Either way it will leave you with one that works.

Having two may put too much back pressure on the line? Not really sure just went with what was reccomended by the transmission guru's.

I left the original and removed the valve from the new line just so that the check valve remained in it's original location. If you have 2 check valves in the line it will cause more of a restriction which leads to higher temps and then a hunk of iron between the engine and driveshaft that does not do anything anymore except smell bad.

Trans Line

I just bought the trans line Chrysler Part #5011244AA & it has no check valve in the rubber section of hose that everyone's been referring to. At least I couldn't hear or see anything...

cross over and check valve

Could someone elaborate or tell me where I could read about this cross over/ check valve. what are the advantages and can/should they be done on a stock transmission?

Check all the fittings on the line. If I remember right I believe that mine had a flow direction arrow on one of them indicating there was a check valve inside which I had to use a Drift punch to remove.

The valve we are talking about comes with the line with the port to install a sending unit. Your truck already has this valve which is to help keep the TC from draining back to the pan. Some people say it is best to remove this valve completely because it does produce some restriction to fluid flow. If this valve leaks by or is removed completely you need to start the truck and idle in neutral for a few seconds to refill the TC otherwise the trans will feel like it is slipping when put in gear.

Removing the valve in #5011244AA trans line

Just finished removing the Valve & Spring from Chrysler replacement line #5011244AA. I used a 1\4" screw in eye. With the brass end of the short line in a vise, I inserted the wood screw end into the brass end & pushed against the rubber ball while turning. After several turns the screw end of the eye bolt started in the rubber ball & I just gave it a yank & out it came. Did the same procedure to remove the spring. One small piece of the spring was still attached in the groove inside the brass fitting. That was a bit more work to remove but I did get it out after about 15 minutes of trying. Rinsed hose out throughly with engine cleaner & rinsed out even more with hot water. Clean as a whistle!!

Killed me to have to do this to a brand new factory hose but it needed to be done. Thanks for all the info fella's! :D :D
