Transmission Makes "Clunk Sound"

I have an 08 dually automatic. When shifting, i.e. out of drive into reverse or into park and visa versa, with my 5th wheel, 16,000 lbs, attached, there is definate "clunk" sound and resistance going from one gear to another or into park. When shifting without the 5th wheel attached, the shifting is normal. Any ideas??
