I noticed something with my 1995 2wd 2500 Auto that I have had for a week now. When I put it into reverse there is a humming sound that comes from the drive train. This occurs before I start moving. I have also noticed that it has a tendency to stall when I am backing up. The rig has 211,000 Miles on it. Does anybody have a clue as to whether this is normal?

I have a '96 2wd with 47K on it, and when it's cold, it will do it for the first backup in the morning. After that, it doesn't make a sound again. I also drive a '03 Dodge Dakota V6 (company vehicle) which has 21K on the clock, and it does exactly the samething each morning; either they both have a problem or else this is normal. I haven't lost any sleep over this one, but they don't stall as you mentioned, so your situation may be different.
