transmission noise

my transmission is starting to make a growl sound. checked fluid and its full. does anyone have an idea what it could be?input shaft bearing?truck only has 17,000 miles on it.

what gear or is it all the time. mine started to doing that and i found that the little orange boot on the top of the shift tower was torn and still is. i have been to lazy to tear into it. but if i cover it up it stops. these are very noisy transmissions. they have alot of sound deadening in place.

it does it in all the gears. neut. it is quiet
