3500 Black SLT 47 re Trans 2003 Auto



Transmission is loud. Sounds like the torque converter is having a hard time . When pulling a load you can here a hissing noise on and off. Also it shifts into overdrive at 40mph when pulling a load unless you stay in the throttle hard , then I will hear multiple shifting until it goes into to over drive. Is the shifting different on this truck compare to the 99 47re.

The noise you hear is not the trans itself, rather it is caused by the torque converter locking up quickly under load and causing the turbo wastegate to make that "hissing noise" due to rapid change in RPM. This was discussed in another thread titled

"03 driveline vibration". Read into that thread for other info. There is no fix for this as of yet that I know of, but it seems that most of the automatic equipped truck are doing this.
