transmission options

Im just thinking out loud. Has anyone thought of installing a dummy converter if lockup is the weak point? Has anyone thrown the 618 in the trash and built a 727? My idea of an ideal transmission setup would be a built 727 np205 and a gear splitter. Has anyone tried this setup. Id like to know why we need a lockup converter. I have the xstator with no problems so far. I have occasional problems with the computer and have to unplug the power so that it forgets. This is not the original transmission.

Cmon someones tried this. From what I hear a 727 can be built to withstand 2000 ftlbs for around 4 grand. They use it locally with alchohol cars.

The 727 in the hemi cars used to hold up pretty good. What they did was add fibres and steels much like a BD transmission.
