Just use a little dab of RTV silicone of your choice and let it cure for a few hours before refilling it with oil. I use this method for other things on occasion also. If you want to remove it later it is easy to pull off and easy to clean off too.

The best of the best in silicone is called "The Right Stuff" made by permatex.

I was never a big fan of RTV silicone and transmissions so i never consider it an option. I guess my biggest concern is the magnet breaking loose in the pan and cause damage.

Get a couple of big fender washers and JB weld them to the inside of the pan. Problem solved.

Or you could always buy an Aluminum magnet. :-laf

All you need is a couple little dabs of it, you don't need to glue it on with half a tube. :-laf It works excellent as glue. The right stuff is impermiable to oil and fuel and it sets up in a shorter time and has high temp rating than regular rtv's. And as I said before you can peel it off at a later time. Or Navy doods idea is a good one too although I wouldn't use JB weld inside a cavity myself JMHO.

If you use a strong enough magnet, such as a rare-earth type, it can be outside the pan. That way you don't have to worry about it coming loose or the adhesive causing a problem. It doesn't take much to hold fine iron dust in place.

It just has a lite gray coating about the same as when it was in the bottom of the pan before the DD pan you can always cut the filter open if your worried

it has a filter, i wouldnt worry about it

I dis-agree...

The filter that is used is not that great (coarse).

My original stamped steel pan had a huge donut shaped magnet.

My new DD pan has a magnet on the drain plug

My Durango has two filters (inlet and return) and the return filter looks like an oil filter and it has a magnet in the pan.

1992 Corolla has at least 4 magnets in the pan

Its a necessary item for prolonged trans and fluid life...

Thanks,

Louis
