My truck goes to the dealer on Monday for rear diff pinion bearings and transmission work. 35 600 miles on it. The pinion flange was pulled a total of 4 times to replace pinion seals, the last time the flange was replaced & I knew the pinion preload was shot to hell & told them so at the dealer. Well, 6k miles later, the pinion bearings are howling & I'm pushing for a differential replacement, not just bearings because I'm not at all confident that its going to be done right.
The transmission will drop 2nd gear when upshifting & then select 3rd a second or two later, allowing rpms to climb during this false neutral. Torque convertor also shudders when engaging & will occasionally slip under load with the trailer (about 7k lb) on back.
Same story on the transmission. "We have to disassemble, inspect & repair. DC won't authorise a replacement unless we screw up this rebuild etc etc etc. "
I'm not a very happy camper right now.
