Okay, so I smoked my slush box last week. I did not have the money to buy a DTT or ATS or any other quality trans, so I bought a remanufactured trans from a place in pheonix, AZ. I pulled the one trans off, and recieved a "new" one, but I can not get the old torque conveter off.

Please any information about getting T. C. off would help me out a ton. Plus save the money that I really don't want to spend giving up and taking it to a trans shop.

Thanks for the help

He is trying to get the old one off so he can install the new one.

Chris,

On the right side of the engine (looking fwd), just in front of where the right side of the TC is, there is a plate with two bolts in it. Remove this plate. Now you have about an 1. 5" hole that you access the TC bolts from the front side. If you look at your new TC, you can see where they thread into. I'll bet you made quite a mess when you pulled that transmission back ;) . Hold the engine from turning by putting a socket (or pry bar) on one of the harmonic balancer bolts at the front of the engine.

Chris,

If that is phoenix transmission who advertise the 47RE on ebay for $895, please let us know how you like it. I've wondered how they were. especially when I found out Eagle transmission was asking $2200 to overhaul one.

Anyone else getting ready to pull your transmission Cummins has a cool little tool kit on sale till the end of September part # 3399869 at 40% off. Has all you need to change oil, oil filter, fuel filter and adjust the valves (and the barring tool will come in handy for torque converter bolt access) all in a neat plastic case for less than $50

Phoenix remanufactured transmission

So far mine has held up Pretty good after 2 yrs and even a roll over it still makes the truck move so for the money I'm happy
