:( Took my truck to the dealer for a transmission that would not start in 1st or 2nd but rather in 3rd. The truck threw no codes and no check engine light. I read alot of posts on TDR about the problem being my governor solenoid and transducer. The dealership claims that the problem is a bad valve body. I said ok fix it, its covered by a non-dodge warranty anyway and most times the governor solenoid and tranducer are replaced at the same time. I let a day pass and then I call the dealership (they didn't call me) and find out that the valve body is on back order with no release date given. also the dealership tells me that they do not change the governor solenoid or transducer when they change a valve body. I put in a call to DTT after several threads recommended them, DTT said that the problem was simply the solenoid and transducer not the whole valve body. I cannot get my dealership to just do the solenoid transducer repair, they want to just sit and wait on a valve body to appear out of nowhere. I think I might just go and get my truck and take it to another repair facility. I cannot get the dealer to answer any of my phone calls and they keep giving me the run around. How can I make the dealer fix just the solenoid and trandeucer without causing to much of a stink. Or should I just take my truck from them and take it to another repair facility? If I take to another repair facility, do you guys have a recommdation for a good one around the Atlanta, Georgia area?

Don't call them. GO TO DEALER. Ask for Service Manager. GET YOUR TRUCK! If that doesn't work ask for General Manager. GET YOUR TRUCK.

Tell them to zip it up (they'll pretend to be in the middle of the repair) and you'll pay whatever. But that you're going to get it fixed properly.

And NEVER EVER take a vehicle to the dealer again.

CALL Jeff Garmon 866 898 8585, he's south of Atlanta and might make a referral--or just take it to him.

Sounds like limp mode to me ... ... My truck did the same exact thing after my trany upgrade ,,,, had to insert a resistor in PCM and it has been fine ever sence. Not sure if it has anything to do with your truck tho'

If there going to replace the Whole VB at no charge I would just let them do it . .

My 2001 3500 w/75000 miles just had a similar problem, when I came up to a stop, the trans would downshift normally, just before the truck came to a complete stop it would upshift into a higher gear and stay there. Manually pulling the selector lever into 1 would allow the truck to start out in first, then it would upshift normally once placed back in drive. I scanned the truck while driving with a Snap On MODIS scanner and the scanner showed the truck downshifting into 1st but when the truck upshifted just before stopping, the ECM still thought it was in 1st. (It also never lit the check engine light either) ANYWAY... ..... I replaced the transducer and the solenoid along with the filter and now the truck is fine. It's an easy (but messy) job and it only took about 30 minutes without a lift. The parts listed at $65. 20 for the transducer and $112. 00 for the solenoid ( cost me $46. 92 and $80. 64 at 10% over dealer) plus a pan gasket, filter and fluid (ATF+4). I'm kinda glad that It acted up when it did as it would have been a real pain if it acted up while towing a trailer. Hope this helps, John

I ended up taking my truck to another dealer that is farther away from me. The good thing is I have a buddy that works at the dealer in the transmission department. Problem was the transducer and the solenoid. Wish I could get my $$$$ back from the dealer that said it was a bad valve body. Thanks for the replies guys, I learned a very valuable lesson.
