Well i snapped the input shaft in the transmission the other day. So i was going to ask the wise men here if it would be smart of me to stick with the 5spd and upgrade the shaft or switch over to the 6spd. also i do tow moderatly from time to time which i know the 6spd would be good for, but at the same time i want to keep the best 1/4 time possible. on another note i put in the(i think)biggest clutch LUK makes, and when i pulled the transmission it looked pretty near wore out and looked as if it had got hot. now i do drive hard, but i never really mistreated this clutch, ie dropping it at 3k, slipping etc. i just wondered if this was normal and also what the best clutch would be for 700+ horse, with the 1 3/8 shaft. TIA Drew

I'd keep the 5spd if it was me. The cost to upgrade VS a fully splined shaft and a good clutch (which you'd need anyway) isn't worth it. Guys have ABUSED the 5spd transmission's for years and not had many problems.

Thats just me. I'm more of an Auto guy, but if I was to go Manual it would probably be a 5spd.

Josh

so does anyone know where the best place to get the upgraded shaft for the 5spd would be? i looked at quad 4x4 and from what i gathered they dont sell the stuff seperately
