I have a 95 with the automatic transmission. If i'm just cruising around town it runs great, if i put my foot in it... it'll stick on most gears. Once i'm up to highway speeds and just cruising it'll continuously downshift back and forth between gears in 5 second intervals. Annoying as all hell. i had mechanic test tach and a sending unit, all of it is at the correct voltage. 171000 miles on truck+transmission. started doing it once in a blue moon 10000 miles ago, but now its nonstop. Any ideas on solving it? i'd like to put in a ATS or Suncoast trans but i wanna run this one till its totally gone, so don't make my options- You gotta get a $4k+ transmission lol.

My buddy had similiar problems with 2001. The transmission seemed to be in and out of overdrive constantly when cruising 45-50 mph until you up to 60mph. I poked around here and found a thread that suggested to disconnect the batteries for like 30 minutes, then reconnect them and with the key in the on position slowly push the accelerator pedal down and let go. Had something to do with TPS or something and basically the idea was for the computer to re-learn the the range of the throttle. I know this sounds kinda vague and I'm not 100% sure it would apply to your 95, but do a search and I'm sure you'll come up with results. BTW, after we did that on my friends truck, it's been fine ever since.

Check this link, its sounds like what you have... .
