My 2002 auto trans does not want to shift out of low I have to baby the fuel to get it to shift warm or cold it does not seem to be slipping has anyone had this same problem My truck does have a edge chip
Most often shift problems are related to a solenoid or transducer going bad. Mine wouldn't shift into low, it was a couple years ago so I kind of forget what it was actually doing or not doing, but I'm certain after replacing the shift solenoid and transducer everything worked well. You'll have to drop the pan and the parts are right there.
Not a bad job. Might as well get a new pan gasket, filter and do a mini service while you're this far down. If you have a manual follow it to the TEE for adjusting the bands, if you don't have a "Dodge Shop Manual" get one - Priceless. I'm sure Geno's Garage sells them.
Governor pressure solenoid and\or transducer, typical problem. Borg Warner has an updated solenoid availble now that is stronger the the OE piece and sems to work well. Either that or you go with an aftermarket and the GM solenoid conversion.
