Windows XP System Config Question

sportsman, who can finish this phrase?

I have a 92 Lincoln Town Car with a V8 and 4 spd auto "The yard car" and it seems to have a transmission problem :(

This car is used for transportation around the property (Yes I know most people would use a four wheeler or a truck, but it was given to me).

I took it out earlier and got it stuck, I was doing the normal back and forth thing trying to avoid the long walk back to the house to get the backhoe.

I was letting off the throttle when going from forward to reverse, I would floor it once it was safely in drive or reverse.

After doing this for about 30 seconds I lost forward, I still had a very solid reverse but no forward!

After I finally got the car back to the house (by way of backhoe) it had a very faint forward (it will barely pull in forward), but the reverse is just fine.

Before getting it stuck it shifted and ran very strong

I have already checked the fluid level, it is fine.

What do yall think is wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help.

sounds like the Transmission has driven its last mile. When going back and forth between reverse and forward it is imperative that you come to a complete stop, just letting off the throttle is not good enough. In reverse your Reverse clutches are on as well as the low and reverse band. When you shift to forward the forward clutch applies, the band stays on BUT the LOW sprag tries to hold. since the internals are still spinning what usually happens is the sprag explodes. and you will have no forward movement.

Hope that helps
