Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transmission questions

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mach 3's at idle

I have a friend that has a 99 CTD with an auto transmission. He says that it feels like it is slipping at around 45 mph. We added a quart of transmission fluid to it today. We'll see if that helps. Could there be a sensor going out on it? Any suggestions? He had it serviced back in January. Could it be burning fluid?

Thanks

Highly unlikely that it would be burning trans fluid.

Might be leaking fluid. Also, if it is slipping at 45 mph, that is about the speed it could be locking up, maybe his TC is slipping at low rpm, too much pedal and low line pressure--bad combinations for a stock TC. If it slips worse while towing or hauling a heavy load he should start saving his dough for a Performance Trans. ALso he should avoid giving it a lot of pedal at low RPM's. Keep the RPM's up.
