First of all I would like to tell everyone that I recently install dtt valve body & tc and its great!!!!!! the truck is like a rocket. anyway I am having a minor problem that I had before install the tc & vb, when pulling heavy loads uphill and the transmission down shifts I have great power for about 20 seconds then it down shifts again and I have very little power. Does this have something to do with the kickdown cable???? and if so how do I adjust it????? I think its just down shifting to far is this possible???? thanks in advance Brian

1995 Dodge Dually 5. 9L cummins with auto transmission. :(

Brian,

There are three cables attached to the throttle linkage. The two at the top are throttle pedal and cruise control. The bottom one is the kick down cable. The cable comes out of a pointed black plastic part that sticks out of a black plastic cube. This is what you adjust. It's a little confusing. If you feel around the cube you will find a round lump on one side that is shaped kind of like a button. This is NOT the button, it is the housing the holds the spring for the button. The button is the flat side of the cube opposite the spring housing. You adjust it by pressing in the button until the pointed housing that wire comes out of can be moved. If you have slim fingers with the strength of a gorilla you will have no trouble pressing the button. I use a 1 1/2" C clamp to press and hold it. What you adjust is the length of the cable housing so the longer you make the housing the shorter the effective length of the cable is. I hope this makes some sense.

Fire,

Joe G definately knows what he is talking about--he helped me. Try adjusting your kick down cable. I used a C-clamp and a bolt centered on the "area" that you have to push. It's easy once you figure it out.

Adjustment

Joe, which way do I adjust the cable???? and does this sound like the problem???? thanks alot Brian

It sounds like it's tight. At WOT there should be a little movement left in the kick down lever at the transmission end. That is, the cable doesn't pull the lever all the way against the stop. Try it that way and see what happens.
