Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transmission question

Greetings. I have a question that I think I have run ascross the answer on here before but for the life of me can't remember where I found it or what the answer is. Anyway my question, I drove the truck to work today, no problems, started home and truck will not take off in first gear unless I manually downshift then up shift thru the gears or put it back in drive after I have taken off. Can't figure out why it want to take off in second. It shifts fine and TQ locks up fine,no other trans problems. It also won't downshift to first as it always does as I'm slowing down to stop. All responces welcome. 97 auto 47re rebuilt trans. 8k ago with billet torque converter. Thanks, Brian

its going into limp mode, do a search lots of possible things can be happening, check for codes first see if you have any over voltage codes to the trans.

chopperman, the rear band probalby needs adjustment it controls 1rst and reverse.

Front band controls 1st,2nd,3rd,4th.
