Howdy y'all,

Wasn't quite sure where this might fit in. I'm new to the forum.

I recently bought a 2014 Longhorn Larime 3500 Mega Cab. The weird part is that in all Ram material, the 6.7 Cummings is never linked to a 66 RFE transmission. Can only find them with gasoline motors. Anyone else have this issue or know anything about it?

Thanks in advance.
InjunAndy

The 66RFE is specifically a 6.4L gas engine transmission only.....like the AS69RC and 68RFE are diesel specific transmissions.

Is there a way I can identify what transmission it actually is? The 66 is what was put on the vehicle sticker, so someone made a mistake/typo.

IIRC, the base engine/ transmission are listed on the sticker in the standard equipment part, and the Cummins and 68 or Aisin should show up under optional equipment since they are just that, options.

Is this a "dealer generated" sticker installed by the dealership for used vehicle information??? Definitely a mistake / typo; The 68RFE transmission has the dipstick on the passenger side. The AS69RC / AISIN has the dipstick on the driver's side.

Not without tearing the trans down and looking at the parts. The 66 and 68 are essentially the same externally\internally except certain parts may be larger or clutch packs have more clutches. It is probably just a typo.

Look on the barcode label on the transmission, driver's side, just above the oil pan. If the part number on the tag is 52119703AH (or 52119704AH) then it's a 68RFE.

If your lucky you can find a P\N or a barcode still on the trans and that will tell you. Pretty good chance it is a 68 anyway.
