transmission Rebuild Went BAD, Why, Help ! ?

first off all i have a tripledisc converter + flexplate

transtar solenoids.....

servo

masterkit

transgo shiftkit

bands

:mad:

it will not shift upp very good

1 2 is pretty good but i need high rpm to get into 3

and od doesent work

or it goes but shift down to 3 again

and the same about 3 gear it shifts down to 2 very easy



also reverse feels like shaking abit (or slipping?)

what can cause this

it took me along time to get oil in it got about 12liters now

factory manual says 14-16liters



put 5000€ in parts only. . why cant it go my way. #@$%!



please help me find the problem i have no idea where to start

this is about a 48re on a truck from 2005.

it has no tv cable.

NO CODES



shift pretty good from 1-2 but abit rough and hard

tricky to get into 3 and will not hold in 3 good

it wants to shift down pretty fast



no overdrive



if i get to about 60mph

and let off the throttle

it lets go of 3 and back to 2



cant figure this out



ALSO **** indicator is abit crazy first it had problem to find gears n and r

nov n is to close to r so it will not light up when in neutral
 
Im sure Cerb will chime in on this shortly as our resident trans expert. Did you perform the mods/rebuild or did a shop do it? If a shop did, i would take it back, if you did it... . good luck!

Offhand, it sounds like the direct clutch pack may be toast along with some VB problems. Its hard to tell if the shifting problems are the source or the symptom.



Have you dropped the pan and looked for debris?



Have you run the basic pressure test check list?
 
havent done anything yet. . or i have checked the oil... looks good so far. . if this was a old transmission i would blame tv cable. . read somwhere i can reset the motor doing the tv cable job?

a shop/friend helped me so i cant blame someone...
it now performs better tried driving it abit today and checked all electronic conectors
cleaned them and so on. . so the shift indicator works better but still
shifting issus... now i can get the 3 to work but it downshift if i let of the pedal or axelerate abit
i need a pretty calm foot to keep in 3

Also it doesent lock up

Run the pressure test on all the gears to see if they are within parameters. Thats where you should start.
 
okay, i will try a scanner. . and go to a dealer. did read that my smarty only finds engine codes. .
AnY good writeup on pressure testing?
 
If your not seeing any codes another scanner is not going to help. Depending on the delaer and their experience with the trans, may not be much help there.



The FSM has the test procedures and the OE pressures that should be present. Those can be adjusted for the shift kit easily. You just want to make sure it has as much or more than OE in the ports.

Yes, if any are set it will read them. The symptoms you are tlaking about frequently do not set DTC's though.

took my truck to a shop but i need to wate until 3 next month to get some help with it...

really works good in 1 and 2 no slipping 2200-2400rpm i need to back of and let it drop to 1800rpm or lower and it gets into 3 after a while around 50mph at 2200 rpm tq locks in 3 and drops 200rpm?



so in 50mph im cruising on 2000rpm with 31" wheels



and its slipping abit in reverse and somtime in 3 with very low rpm





tried it abit in town to get a clue on whats its doing...
 
When you replaced the shaft support in the rear of the trans did you make sure all the plugs got put back in the correct places?



Something else to check.
 
tried it today again. . havent got my gauges it acts like to low pressure in 3 and reverse. .

didnt put it back together my self so i cant tell but it should have been done right. .

atsg book as a guide all the time
