Trying to get the transmission out 1999 2500 2wd. I have the rear mount off and 8 bolts out of front bell. I can't brake it loose from the engine, am I missing a bolt? My hundred dollar manual from Chrysler doesn't cover the diesel transmission removal.

Any help will be appreciated

Auto or manual???

Sometimes they can be tight, even after all the bolts are out. A little careful persuasion by a prybar should take care of it.

When I removed my transmission, the engine wanted to tip forward and the transmission wanted to tip backwards, causing them to get into a bind. It seems like there was an alignment pin on either side of the transmission that bound up. Also, the input shaft could bind up if the engine and transmission are not aligned. Try propping the front of the engine up with a 2x4 to keep it from tilting forward. Make sure the transmission is aligned with the engine, and it should pull apart.

Good luck!

Steve

Don't forget about the torque converter bolts, which sounds like you did, there are 6, you can access them on the passenger side of the engine above where the oil pan meets the block, there is a cover you need to remove.

BTW, if/when all bolts are out, the trans will just fall out (literally), so watch your head. :D
