Good Dodge Mechanic in N. Alabama?

Looking for a Turbo Diesel Mechanic in Memphis, TN area

The automatic transmission in my '96 2500 CTD is acting up. When it's cold, the truck will barely pull itself in 1st gear or reverse. Yesterday I backed my trailer down a slight grade, then tried to pull it forward. . almost wouldn't move at all. I disconnected the trailer, then the truck pulled away with much slipping in the transmission. I went for a short drive to warm it up & checked the fluid. . it was above minimum, and the truck shifted OK but kind of spongy. I re-connected the trailer & the truck pulled it up the grade with no problem.

The transmission was rebuilt in 2007 at 200k (original AFAIK) miles by a local mechanic at his home based garage; now has 281k on it. I've not changed the fluid or filter since the rebuild, or adjusted the bands. Given that the behavior changes with temperature, I'm not inclined to believe this is a fluid or filter or band adjustment related problem.

Do any of you know of a reliable, reputable transmission shop in the middle Tn area? I need my truck to be reliable. . have a utility trailer to tow, plus it's boating season! <G>

Thanks,

Robin Midgett

Hi,

I've had work done with these guys in Lebanon TN. I haven't been there in 2-3 years though, but the guys are dodge/cummins certified mechanics that left the dealership arena to have their own shop. Give them a call.

Take care.

How bout a 3rd recommendation for Cedar City. Hauled my truck over 200 miles (one way)to have them work on it.

Have used them twice, and satisfied. No worries with them.

The difference, is worth the distance.
