Transmission shifting problems

I have a 2004 Dodge ram 3500 5.9 liter turbo diesel with a 48re transmission. I've already done the solenoid and pressure Governor switch. Truck will start out in 3rd gear if I manually shift and Rob on the throttle it'll start out in second the really weird thing about it is when I back up and then put it all the way down into first gear or low it'll start out in first it'll shift to 2nd and will shift to 3rd while doing this manually I never get overdrive I'm starting to wonder if it's the range selector switch / neutral position switch? I do have a few codes and one of them has a reference voltage that is showing out of range. When I get to my book why I wrote the codes down I will put those on here. I also don't could not get my tow haul light to illuminate before I did the pressure solenoids and actuators once I did that the code for that one away in the computer and the tow haul switch will illuminate on the dash now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
