You could take it to a shop and get a manual fuel pressure test done on it on the VP side, they will know whats up. I take mine to CV diesel in Greencastle,PA, they are awesome. Mine has gone out twice, the 1st one was my ignorance, then the 2nd one was a faulty pump, which they put on for me free of charge, honored the warranty and didnt even charge labor. Just a little drive up I-81. Then definitely get a fuel pressure gauge and maybe relocate the pump to the frame, just an idea.

I ordered my guages today from Genos. For a quick fix I bought a LP from Advanced Auto made by Airtex. I hope it is OK the pump is redesigned. Where is CV Diesel located? I called Geno's looking at the Fass because of the lifetime warrenty but I don't know if I want just a pump or the filter system also.

CV diesel is on rt 11 right at the MD/PA line, get off at the 1st PA exit on 81 and turn left onto 11, about 1/2 mile down the rd, you can see their shop from 81. Also, I was looking at going to Airdog, and most likely will, but my stock Carter on the frame has lasted me 30,000+ miles with the big line kit and an inline filter before the pump, so I'm not fixing whats not broken yet, and my fuel pressure has been great.

Why would you spend all the money on a Airdog. From what I've been reading

Airdog only has a 1 year warranty. Fass has a lifetime warranty as long as you send in the warranty card to the Fass Company. Thanks for the directions to CV Diesel. Where they called Antrim Diesel at one time? And would you know what they charge for the VP44 test?

yeah, im not for too sure which one Im gonna get as of yet, I didnt know Fass had a lifetime warranty. I have heard good about both products, but my setup is working great so far knock on wood, itll probably go out tonight since im talking about it. Antrim Diesel is right up the road from CV. Antrim is good, they put on my gauges and such, but you will wait a while to get in there, but no complaints from their work. CV has treated me very good, so thats why I reccomend them, Im not sure how much they would charge to check your VP out, however, their number is 717 597 3184. Im sure they will be reasonable. Also, if you ordered a fuel pressure gauge, and are not sure how to install it, as I was, I had CV hook mine up. I was up there a couple months ago, they put in my rv275 injectors. If you go there, tell them the tennessee vols fan reccomended you, the guy at the desk will probably laugh if it is rodney, they are all penn state.

AirDog is less expensive for starters. And the replacement Fleetguard filters are much less money than Fass filters. Very high likelihood you will never need warranty on AirDog. Having sold and installed both I only sell and install one now, AirDog. Having over 300,000 miles on mine is two or three times more miles than most guys will put on one.

Godspeed,
Trent

In doing some more research it seem as though the Airdog system is quieter than fass. And it sounds like the fuel pressure can be easily adjusted on the Airdog. What kind of price are you lookins at for a Airdog?

On a 99 2500 4x4 auto where would the APPS be located? I had a problem with the "hunting" at 30-40 mph several years back and installed a DTT. Am now having same problem at 60 mph. Can the DTT go bad? Cleaned battery grounds. Will try the APPS grounding when I find it.

Including the APPS, are grounded near the starter,it will loosen and rust. Removeing the starter is the best way to clean and tighten it.

I wonder why they tell you to go to the dash to ground it? It is much closer to the drivers side battery than the dash! Snoking

Because if you ground the ECM (or APPS) to the battery *and* happen to have a bad battery ground at the block connection, then the path of least resistance for the current may be from the battery directly to the ECM. I'm not sure how many amps the ECM will pass before it fries. The heater grid and starter draw a lot more current than the ECM can handle. I've learned in the past to NEVER ground any engine mounted electronics direct to the battery.

Not trying to start a war or flame anyone here. Being an electronics guy this makes sense to me.
