Can anyone recommend a transmission repair shop in the St. Louis Area?

I was pulling my fiver and noticed the rpms climbing a couple hundred when I accellerated on the highway. I'm not sure if it is just the TC or if I need to upgrade the transmission too.

I bought the truck with 122,000 miles on it, is there a way to tell if the transmission is anything other than stock?

Thanks

Quality Transmission, located off of hampton and I-44. Ask for Pat Walsh. Also might want to try Big Gun Racing Automatics, ask for Matt Heady. He does my trannies for my drag car. He is in De Soto which is a little far, but does top notch work. Hope this helps.

Mike

P. S. - both should be in the phone book...

There is a great transmission guy in a small town south west of St. Louis called Gerald. He is a DTT installer and has done quite a few that i know of and the customers have been very happy. Dont know where you live but its probably an hour from Manchester. The shop is called TAC transmissions and the owner/mechanic is Terry (573) 764-5540

Thank you everyone for the responses!!!!! --- I will make some calls.

Where is Forrest City Diesel?

Gerald is only about 45 minutes from me. I have a sis that lives the next town west. (Rosebud)...

Thanks again!

PS: I'm in Pacific, MO

Georends is great. I thought he wanted someone to do it!. Shop around call them all and then decide. Goerends, DTT, ATS - probably missed some. Be prepared to answer questions about what you want to do .

bkeence,

Forrest City is in St. James. I believe he is an ats dealer/installer. Terry at TAC in Gerald has done two or three cummins DTT's and one Duramax DTT and all were very satisfied. I have had other gas transmission's done there and have been happy. When i had my 98 24v i didnt know about TAC so i went to a guy that used to have a shop in Union (excel trans. ) i believe was the name of the place. I think the guys name was Brian, but he closed his shop. If you could track him down, he did an excellent job on mine.

I worked in pacific for a year, and grew up in Owensville, but recently bought a house in Bland. Not often i see anyone on here from the show me state.

Lance I called Terry at TAC. He was a very nice guy. I explained to him what I did with the truck... . (tow a very heavy load about once a month). I also told him I was running a superchip in tow mode. He said I really don't need DTT, it is mainly for higher performance trucks and said a billet TC, shift kit and transmission rebuild would meet all my needs. I also told him I planned on keeping the truck for years.

Could someone tell me what "billet" is?

Brian

Lance you are right, don't see too many from this area. I worked in Union , Mo for many years.

Billet is used to describe a manufacturing process for a finished metal product that is machined from a solid blank of stock. Generally the finished product is stronger and/or more rigid than similar items that are cast, extruded, stamped, forged or made by other metal forming techniques.

Brian,

Glad you got ahold of him. Yeah, he is a very nice guy isnt he. I wasnt sure what you were doing with the truck but i knew that he would be able to take care of your transmission needs. Sounds like you should get off descently cheap rather than going with a full dtt or something equal to it.
