Never dealt with one and wondering if anyone in western WA can recommend one to rebuild mine using Goerend parts. Their complete trans is 6-8 weeks out and I can't wait.

You have one of the best shops there is just north of you they build and use their own line of parts but DTT is the way to go JMO

I do have a call into them, I'm trying to make the best decision with all this.

BD Diesel

DTT

Goerend (parts)

Suncoast " "

Gawd I hate dealing with all this but it is a MUST...

Thanks Big!

The Gang in Abbotsford are a Great bunch cant go wrong with them JMO Hope it works out for ya these trucks are TOTALLY DIFFERENT when they have a decent trans in them

I have used both DTT and Source Automotive(Clackamas Ore. ) Both have been great to deal with my current trans is pushing 200k Built by Source Automotive expecting many more miles.

I'm starting to get dizzy from information overload and comparison making. I just want the best build or in the case with the local shop, "rebuild" I can get for the money. I feel certain that BD would provide an excellent Stage-1 (single disk TC though) and no billet flex plate? I think. Also their 3yr. 150k warranty sounds good where the locals are only 24m. 12k. but BD's costing $1000. more than the local shop totaling over $6500. 00 I'd really like to keep my money in the US and more specifically, local. (However, Oregon with no sales tax is also appealing as funds are limited)

Here is what I was quoted using a comparison of HD parts from Goerend by a local shop. (one mentioned here)

"All shiftworks heavy duty transmission include, all new gasket seals, clutches, bushings, fliter, bearings, low one way clutch, over drive one-way clutch, solenoids and sensors, overdrive direct clutch snap ring, direct clutch snap ring, heavy duty band strut, pro series front band, rear band, re programed valve body, re-manufactured pump with added clutch plate to the direct and over drive clutch packs, the price for the above is $2995. 00

A triple disk billet converter is $1295. 00

Labor to remove are re place is $622. 51

Fluid to fill transmission is $80. 00
(I will provide my own Amsoil)

A billet input shaft is available for $695. 00

It is made by TCS Products if you need more information on it you can look it up on there website the part # is 129600L

Price without input shaft is $4992. 51 plus tax

Price with input shaft is $5687. 51 plus tax

I will do whole job without input shaft for $4500. 00 or with input shaft for $5195. 00 plus tax. "

It seems if I recall, the builder at BD was more detailed in what was provided with regard to performance enhancements. Drilling something out ? Also, an external filter installed. . I just know I need to get this thing done and soon. Anymore input would be much appreciated.

That dizzy feeling is why I took it in to the shop of choice and told them pretend its your truck and your going to leave it stock HP and pull at or just above gross weight for the truck. build it how you would with that guide line

I just got off the phone with Rip there, very straight shooter, he listened well and ultimately he suggested:

"Why don't you go with a OEM re-manned transmission, if you got 245K out of your 05 and feeling sure you could have gotten many thousand more miles due to good maintenance that's been done, why spend more on bells and whistles when you don't need it".

I've talked to a bunch of people now, done lots of threads here and NOBODY has suggested going that route for thousands less than doing a custom. Not sure right now what an OEM one will cost, nor what if any improvements have been made for my year range, but I'm open to input from others here on what they think about the idea.

The only reason that I went with the trans that I did was because I DIDNT PAY FOR IT. I helped out a buddy that got into trucking and hauled some Bio Diesel from WA to Ca As payment for my assistance in his time of need he paid for my rebuild. Im impressed with the milage that you got out of the OEM trans GOOD JOB. Driving like a human being has it advantages.

OK, I'm DONE with it.

Just got off the phone with Shanti @ DTT, why is that women are usually more willing to give you the time and the details (those that know their s**t that is) then a lot of guy tech's ? She gave me nearly an hour of after hours time and the best price for a performance rebuild to my trans. And the way they do it is without having to pay the tax. . I like that.

Thanks again Big and others, I'm psyched now about finally making the decision. It will be a few weeks and in the mean time, I'm changing out the OEM solenoid to a new BW gov. one to help it along until I get it up there late April.

Will keep y'all posted. .

Time for beer. Oo.
