On the way to work this morning got a great big surprise. At light throttle when it shifts into OD it wants to shudder like it is downshifting. The engine revs slightly then it settles back. Once I am going 55+ it seems ok. It usually shifts into OD at 45 with little throttle input. When I came away from a stop sign and was hustling along it shifted just above 50 and no shuddering at all, but as soon as I backed off and dropped below 50 when I gave it a little it wanted to hunt and shudder again. I simply turned OD off and no problem. Any input other than 'get a new one' that anybody has is appreciated. I would love for this to be simple fix, but I don't believe in a truly simple fix this time. :{ By the way, truck has 135,000 on it.

Thanks,

Shea

you might try servicing if it's been awhile but that's how the end of mnine began, although I did get another 10k out of it (moving with lots of trailer time but it was smoked at the end), I love my goerend!!! good luck on the new job for the wife.

This is classic torque converter lock-up/un-lock. I fixed mine with the suncoast grounding modification. FIXED, works great

WOW! Sounds like the exact problem I posted about, a few threads down the page https://www.turbodieselregister.com...8-5-2002/208220-transmission-shudder-o-d.html

I am going to run up to the shop this morning and get it checked out. Will let you know what they tell me.
