Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) transmission shudder

My buddies 95 CTD Auto shifts into OD and the transmission shudders.

What is problem?

It will shudder in OD with or with out a load.

He uses a cabover camper sometimes.

not good... is this when the torque converter locks up or just when it first shifts to overdrive? probably the converter which means that the locl up clutch surfice is warped. it only gets worse until a replacement is needed. (plus the debris running through the trany could ruin a lot more too).
