I have a 2003 with 30000 miles and the TST box. I have been running it on 3 HP and 3 Torque. I was towing our 10000 pound 5th wheel trailer to New England the other day and the transmission started slipping in lock up when I was pulling hard. I set the TST to 00 and gradually back to 3 HP and 2 Torque and it seemed to be ok. I am going to Alaska next year and don't want any problems. What should I do?

If it slipped once it will do it again. Probably a long way from anwhere. Pick your favorite transmission vendor and have the trans checked over and the TC replaced. While they are at it they can address some of the other issues on the inside and you will have a relatively bullet proof transmission. Be prepared for sticker shock. :(

If it was me I wouldn't tow until I got it fixed. You may not feel it slipping but it probably is a little all the time and shedding clutch material into the transmission. Also, if it was me going to Alaska I would make sure I had the best trans possible.

Fill out your profile so we can see what year and setup your truck is. Cheers.

If it were me i would just turn the box down. I have a 6spd and i can slip it on 4x4 w/o load. Plus you said it only does it when you were pulling hard. Try running on 2x2
