Hi all, I know I have seen the answer to this but it escapes me! This started about 6 mths ago. If I have light pressure on the accelerator the trans slips between 3839 to 44-45mph. If I put pressure on it to get it going it will mostly cruise right through the issue or if I turn the O. D. off, it will not do the slipping/stuttering (though it did happen once with the OD off. )

Truck as around 185k on it, regular maintenance done on it. I am seriously hoping it is not the TC or Trans.

2001 dodge ram diesel, auto(47RE??), 8' bed, quad cab, stock, 4x2

I read some where I could do the disconnect the batteries, press the gas pedal, reconnect the batteries and that will solve issue?? Has anyone here had to use this process and if so, did it work for you?

Thanks in advance for your assistance and time!

Tony.

Has the transmission been serviced properly and does it have clean correct ATF in it?

Were you towing? Does the truck frequently tow a heavy trailer?

It won't hurt to try removing the battery leads to allow ECM/PCM to reset but I wouldn't expect that to help.

Most likely its time for a rebuild.

Quite likely you have the dreaded TC lock\unlock problem. Do a search and you will have hours of reading. Essence of the problem is noise in the PCM circuit that controls lockup cause it to shuttle the lockup on and off at light throttle and specific speed. Cure is remove the noise generated by the alternator charge wire and the passenger side gorund wire run in the same harness as the APPS harness.

Hey, thanks for your input. I got teh issue solved last night. Turns out the two ground cables were dirty/loose at the block, so took em off, cleaned, tightened it all back up, did the reset TPS/APPS steps I found on line and now the truck is humming along, narry a sip/hitch!! Even seems to have better pickup!!

Thanks again!

Tony.
