Transmission swap

Has anyone had any experiance in swapping a later model Dodge transmission with the electric/electronic overdrive into an earlier pickup in place of a 727? Is this a fairly straightforward swap, or does it need some kind of electronic controller, or is it worse? I know my 92 CTD uses some kind of TPS on the pump, and has a switch on the dash, but dont know if there is some kind of other controller.



The trans in question is from a 1989 Ramcharger (yea, I got it all - that is, what hasn't rusted away), and I am looking at putting it into a 1988 1/2 ton pickup, both 318 engines.

I recently sold a 89 Ramcharger, it didn't have any electronic controls on the transmission. I believe the speedometer pickup may have been electronic. I had the transmission out and changed out the case after I stripped the one way sprag unit when I got stuck in sand. bg
