I'm going to be installing my transmission temperature gauge this afternoon. I bought the "manifold kit" from Jannetty, but have yet to see it (will be delivered today sometime). I just have a couple of questions...

First, the line it goes in... . this is the one that comes from the transmission, to the cooler on the passenger side of the engine. This line will be the most rearward one, right? The other one, that I believe comes from the cooler, then wraps back around to the drivers side and goes to the cooler up front by the radiator. This correct? I'll then make my cuts in the vertical part of the line going up to the cooler on the engine. Is it better to make the cuts lower or higher? Since I haven't seen the Jannetty kit yet, I don't know how long it will even be (I'm guessing only a couple inches long though?).

Thanks for any help.

EMDDIESEL just answered this question for me in the thread "Transmission Guage Installation" (not sure if this link will work, but here's an attempt

I installed my fitting earlier this week, and yes, I cut the most rearward line. Others have probably cut the line in place, but it looked easy to remove (it was), so I decided to cut it on the workbench, removing approximately 2. 5-inches for the Jannetty fitting.

Word to the wise: TEST THE SENSOR before installing (don't ask).

Thank you...

pkane,

thanks for the reply... I have viewed your other thread multiple times, and had tried to pm EMDDIESEL, but he must not have been around lately. I just went ahead and did it tonight, and it worked out perfect. Took me about 45 minutes. I ended up cutting out exactly three inches w/ the line still on the truck. No leaks, and it's all in tight. Wish I could help you with the problem of yours not working. I'll tell ya, mine is running about 150* F at 70 MPH cruise, and at idle it goes up to around 165*/170*. Haven't pulled anything yet, but I have a 1400 mile road trip coming up Friday and Saturday, so I will report back my findings on transmission temps then.

Thanks again.

Josh.
