I have been looking for a good spot to mount a transmission temp guage since I switched to a two pod A-piller. finally removed the cig lighter and mounted the transmission temp guage in its place. I reinstalled the lighter on the opposite side of the radio controls in the same location I will try and attach a pic, last time it said it was tooo big.

didn't touch the ash tray, just the cig lighter above the ash tray. just below the ac vent in the dash Soon as I figure out how to get a small enough picture, i will post it:(

U.S. Gear Gauge Cluster

I used a 2d Gen 3-pod dash-mount gauge cluster on my wife's truck. I used a Dremmel to reshape the base to fit. It looks pretty OK, but I'm gonna keep checking w/ US Gear to see if they make the base for 3d Gen trucks.

Hey man. I'd really like to see it. If you can e-mail me the pic, I'll shrink it and post it. I'll send you a PM with my address. I've been looking at that cig lighter thinking what a good idea it would be to put a gauge there.

Thanks,

Andy

Looks like you got it!

Here's the other one you sent me.

Thanks for the pics, it looks PERFECT! I can't wait to do mine!

the dash pops right off with alittle help. had to cut a plastic brace behind the cover to allow the gauge to properly seat. used the power from the cig lighter to power the gauge, and ran another wire over to the dash dimmer switch so the gauge light would dim with the other gauges. then I mounted the cig lighter on the other side of the raido. :D

FYI: When the gear selector is in drive, it pratially blocks the view of the guage, you may want to test it before you start drilling holes to see if it will bother you, other wise it looks great. ;)

I'm doing this same thing this weekend w/ my transmission temp. guage. My question is what size do I need to make the holes for the guage and cig lighter, so the 2 fit snug in the dash?

I marked the desired holes and drilled a 3/4 in. hole on both than used a "nibber" bit on a drill press to enlarge the hole. It's about 2 1/16 in for the gauge and just over 3/4 for the cig lighter. Finished both holes with a half round file for a nice tight fit. Goes pretty quick this way. :D
