Use a heat gun on the discharge line running from the trans, that will give you that info, on my 05 I had one on that line, wrong place, moved it to the trans, as I recall about 50 degrees hotter, but the 68re trans doesn't slip like the 48 did, so crawl under when warm and test it yourself

Thanks, so how would that compare to the temp coming out of the converter?? I know cooler but by how much?

It depends if the converter is locked up or not. If it was locked for the last few miles, almost the same. Unlocked going up a grade, way different.

When the TC is locked, the fluid to the cooler comes from the pan, so oil temp in the cooler line will be the same. When the TC is unlocked the oil to the cooler comes from the TC. It will be a little hotter to holly smoke hotter! Depends on how much power and slippage is occurring in the converter. I recall 260deg out of the trans cooler line is when you want to back off. It can get higher real fast and towing slow, up a grade, in 2nd gear will do it.
