I got my transmission temp gauge installed this weekend. The sender is located in one of the test ports on the passenger's side. For those that have one installed, what is the transmission temperature response like when you are unloaded?

Once installed, I drove around and at first thought I had screwed something up. Unloaded, the transmission seems like it takes a while to start warming up. After driving for 20 minutes it doesn't get much over 110F. Is this consistent with what others are seeing?

That's about what mine does empty, pulling 12000 on a 100 mile run it has got to about 170 with outside temp around 85.

About the same. Just driving around town, in 75 degree temps, the gauge takes 20-30 mins before it starts moving. It usually end up around 140, unloaded. Towed the 6500lb boat 600miles this past weekend, highest temp I saw was 180. Interesting thing, coming down a 3 mile 6%, grade, the temp actually went up from 150 ish to 170... I was in 3rd and coasting the whole way.

BTW, my thermocouple is in the pan.

So looking at the Di Pricol gauge, it's almost never going to move then? The first tick is 100, the 2nd is 180.

Exactly why I asked the question. At first I thought I had screwed something up. However after checking continuity on all connections, I decided to do an extended test drive. Finally it started to budge.

gauge readings

I have the X-Monitor an see temps in the range of 130*F to 140*F most of the time unloaded. Outside temps were at 95+*F a few days ago an the X was reading 148*F unloaded.

I have the same setup, and my readings are about the same as the others in this thread. I notice on hot days, of course, it does read a bit higher. Highest I have seen so far is about 180* unloaded, stop and go traffic when the outside temp is in the 90s.
