Thats a good idea but make sure that the tape does not go beyound the threads so that a peice does not go into the trans. gets lost in the valve body and causes trouble .

Is your sensor 1 wore or 2?? If 1 then doesn't the sensor use housing for ground? I believe the sensor threads are tapered to tighten and not leak. Just my . 02.
 
If you sender is a 2-wire type (like the ISSPRO) then there's no need to worry about grounding. If it's a 1 wire then it needs metal to metal for ground. Just fold a piece of teflon tale in half, lengthwise, and apply 2 wraps the the upper threads. Upper meaning furthest from the transmission. This will allow the sender to ground.
