When I hade my 96' CTD I had my transmission temp gauge temp sensor mounted exactly where TST recommended... . on the right side of the engine in the little test port. Talked to Bill K along time ago and he siad that is not to good of a spot for it as it can interfere with your second gear if the temp sensing probe is to long... . well i never had any trouble..... but since i have bought my 99' CTD i have been reading on here that it is better to try and put it in your transmission line coming from the transmission going to the cooler up front... . I have noticed that each line (send and return) looks to be a test port..... Could it be put in there? I do not want to have to do any welding, just something that is easy... Anything I can do to the pan... ... Drill a hole in the side, tap it, and put the sensor in there? Just ideas... .....

Your setup is just like mine, In the test port you are reading 3rd gear temp but only when it is in 3rd gear. So the approved method is to replace the transmission line that has a sensor port built in, I don't have the part number but I can get it or someone can post it, they are about $100. 00 but will let you see the temps move around with what the transmission is doing. The other option is a temp sensor in the pan, but it will make the temps climb or decend slowly. I have a hy-tech pan but it's still in the box awaiting the 1000 mile service after the DTT install.

Here's the part number for the transmission cooler line.

Dodge PN 05011244AA Oil cooler Tube.

I think you have to buy the new quick connect fittings also.

If you bought your truck used, maybe your truck was ordered with plow prep package?!?!

If it is, it should be easy to do what you want to do.

Check Valve?

I just went a purchased the transmission line from dodge part#05011244AA for the transmission temp sensor port... ... There is a check valve at the end of the line where it connects under the turbo... ..... This is ok, or does that piece need to be removed? If it is removed it looks like it would be to short. Any help would be appreciated.

I have that same line. If you're referring to that rubber hose that goes into the oil cooler for the transmission, leave it on. I believe the check valve is in there and it believe it should be removed. Bill at DTT put mine on and didn't see how the check valve is removed. There were also posts on this last year. If in doubt call Bill 866-504-4002 (toll free). Sometimes they are there on Sat.

yes, i am talking about the rubber hose at the end... ..... i dont see why it should be removed, but i will try and call bill k

thanks

I think I got confused, leave the rubber hose on and the check valve is in there, and remove the check valve. Am I right or am I still confused? Good to hear that Bill was there and helped you. They are great people!

When I call DTT and talked to them, they said to leave the new one in the line and remove the one at the bottom of the cooler, where the hose connects, by filing off the end just until the spring pops out and you can get the little ball out..... just finished doing that and now getting ready to install the new line.
