I have a 92 w350 1 ton 4 wheel drive although it is a gas motor it has a 5-speed transmission and the 205 transfer case. I have a leak between transmission and transfer case joint it's transmission fluid because of transmission fluid goes down. I've got the transfer case pulled back and somebody else was in there and pooped it up with RTV. My question is is it just a gasket between the transfer case and transmission or is there a seal in the transmission behind the coupler? Thank you very much Mike. Also can anybody tell me what this thing is bolted on the back of the transmission?

If this "thing" is the part held on with 10-mm, 12-point bolts it is the four-wheel drive adaptor housing (the 2WD version has a tapered extension housing). I've never been in one, but per the FSM, in bold, "Note that 4-wheel drive adapter housing does not have a seal". It looks like these guys (among others) would have what you need...

Well that's fantastic because I just have the transfer case pulled back enough to slip a new gasket on and put it back up in there it's kind of cattywampus to have on a jack and pull out while you're on the ground if I had to get in there and extract the seal that's about 4 in inside the adapter that would be a real *****
