I'll try to make this short. I have a '03 auto with an 85 horse Predator on the engine that has 110K. I run empty most of the time but occasionaly hook up to 13-15k pounds. All has been well until lately. It started to shift sporadically up and down in lower gears looking for gears. Really didn't bother me all that much, but tonight it hangs in 3rd for longer than normal and will not let you have overdrive until you pretty much red line it at 65-70 then hard shift. I am going to flush the fluid and change the filter in the transmission tomorrow but if that does not fix the problem, what do you guys think?

-spend 5 grand on a DTT, I'm a working man and that is alot of money! Is it worth all 5k of it?

-find a 6 speed to swap in it, never had an ounce of trouble out of the last one

-trade in the truck, and hope for better results next time ?

-has anybody had any experience with the suncoast trannys on e-bay?

Thanks for the help,

George

If you really love your truck, go with the DTT. It is a lot of $$ but it is soooo worth every penny spent. Took me over a year to save up, but it has been the best investment I've made. I plan on keeping the truck for a long time, so that's why I did it. If your truck is paid off or close to it, why trade in for another truck and possibly have another bill. DTT all the way. Just my $. 02

DTT Trans

You got your monies worth out of that stock trans. maybe double your monies worth! With that said, there is no substitute for a properly built auto. If you have 110k on your truck with a stock auto and switch to a properly built dtt/ats/suncoast/goering, you WILL NOT believe the difference. The torque multiplication alone is astounding. Not to mention the properly spaced shifts. A full DTT will only run you 5 grand if you go with billet parts. If you got 110k out of a stock auto and are not changing the mission of your truck, you do not need billet parts. Now you are looking at around 4k. You are a working man, as most of us here... 40k for a new truck, or 4 grand for a properly built auto that will put a grin on your face? :-laf

I second that. I'm sure all of the transmissions that you could go with will do you great. I went with Goerend because of price and warranty. Dave definitely has great prices.

Just do your research on all of them if that's the route you are going. You won't believe the difference in the truck once you are actually able to put the power to the ground with any good transmission. Good luck.

I put the Predator box on around 85k. There is a Suncoast on e-bay for $2300. Not sure if comparing apples to apples and I have not done my homework on this subject but from the first impressions the suncoast is half the price of the DTT. Is Suncoast just as good as all the rest, if built apples to apples? I will do my homework and ask more questions but thanks for the advice so far.
