Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need a DTT trans

I have a strange sound, hard to describe but here goes. Sounds sorta like a power steering pump when you turn all the way to the bump stops oly it sounds like it is coming from the transmission so it is muffled and somewhat cyclical if that makes any sense. The noise is accompanied by a slight vibration that follows the sound. The noise is only with the transmission in gear. No noise in neutral or park only in gear. Not sure if it goes away at speed or not, my truck is way too loud to tell. There is also an occasional odd rpm flare under light throttle, this goes away as the transmission temp rises to normal operating temperatures.

I am thinking the pump is giving up but thought I would ask. Now I have done tons of research and have narowed down my choices to DTT and Goerand Brothers. Plan is to order full tilt and boogie trans and have local shop do the install. Have priced both transmissions and while $$$ difference is significant it is not enough to make the choice for me. I want a long lasting healthy transmission. I will end up between 350 and 400 HP and am pretty conservative. Little towing and it is not ultra heavy and I drive soft for safet when towing. May have an occasional short brst from a stop light but no boost launches. I am getting Billet input shaft for piece of mind.

I want someone to push me one way or the other as I figure I am now on borrowed time.

I have read every transmission post ever written and talked to both builders. Probably a win win choice but I wanted to ask one more time

Thanks

I don't think you will go wrong with either. I've got a full DTT trans. , 89% converter, RV valve body and no billet and I'm very happy with it. I drove up to B. C. last April and had it done. It is so nice to feel the truck pull hard during acceleration instead of the engine buzzing hard and the truck not hardly moving, it shifts stong but not harsh either. Throttle response is excellent. It's got 6100 miles on it now with no problems. I used to be a heavy equip. mechanic and I read everything out that Bill K. had on his web site and all the old posts in the TDR and I liked what Bill did to improve the 47RE.
