Can anyboby out there recomend a shop to change out my auto for a 5 speed stick??

My 2nd aftermarket automatic lost reverse gear last nite.

I'm tired of dumping money in this auto.

I'd rather put the money towards a 5 speed thats built.

Has anyone out there had this done that could give me an idea if it's cost effective ,or is trading the truck a better way to go??

I'm currently running 275 hp reg cab 4x4 90k

thanks Dieselfitter

2nd Aftermarket trans?

First welcome to the TDR. Sorry to hear about your trans problems.

What I'd recommend is finding a good automatic trans shop and spend the money and get the job done right. A properly built auto trans will cost less than swapping transmissions and getting a good clutch. A good clutch and either a properly fixed 5spd or a 6spd trans installed is more than an aftermarket auto trans.

Any one of the several aftermarket transmission companies will stand behind their products, and take care of you. Don't blame the transmission, they can be [and are every day] being built to tow very heavy, and/or run behind some serious horsepower without issue.

There have been numerous stick to auto and auto to stick trans swaps, the best way is to find another truck owner who is tired of his standard trans and put the trucks side by side and start swapping parts, It is a pretty involved job, you don't want to have to go to the dealer or salvage yard for all the little items that are different from auto to stick.

Good luck, Greg L
