Microtuner - Anyone using?

Misubishi Starter for Cummins??

I have a new 02 slt long box, auto matic. I am considering up grading my transmission so that i may put an exhaust brake on. I pull a 25 ft Hitch Hiker II. My question is there are so many different manufactures of tripleloc up torque converters I am lost as to which manufacturer (s) are most reliable and have a good track record. I also want to increase horse power and torque. Howerver I do not need alot more for what I am pulling but would like to be in the 300 hp range. I have heard of ATS, DTT, and SunCoast as good products. I am open to suggestions and comments. Love my Dodge

Asking about auto trans upgrades around here is almost like starting a Holy War...

I have suncoast and love it. I have nothing against any of the others. I know that there are serveral other great products out there. It really comes down to personal preference.

Call and talk to a few of them and see which one sounds good to you or gives you the best customer service when you call for info.

Best advice I think there is, is to find dodge owners in your area with the various brands and ask to go for some test drives. This along with all your other reasearch is the best way to choose the best for you.

Of course if you dont want to spend all that time thinkin, just get DTT. ;)

There are only two manufacturers of triple lock TC's Dave goerend as stated above and www.atsdieselperformance.com

www.suncoastconverters.com

www.bd-power.com

are two other very good auto transmission aftermarket parts producers, I would say these are the best choices but that is just ones personal choice, all the producers have excellent parts.

One more thing you might want to consider is your warranty.

Any upgrade to the transmission will void the transmission warranty and possibly the whole trucks warranty, on your truck.

Any upgrade to the engine will void the whole drive trains warranty and possibly the whole trucks warranty.

Hope this helps,

Ron

Bkeibler,

Boy, Bill L said it all…asking what you have asked is like starting a war in ‘the diesel aftermarket’.

Having read all the responses so far, kudos to ‘ronsram1999’. His honesty and fairness is what we like to see, yet rarely do much anymore.

With having said that, we would like to respond for ATS Diesel Performance. We are ‘TripleLok’. Dave Goerend does have a three-clutch converter with the round tab design. We abandoned the round tab design because of premature wearing of the tabs. We offer a 3-year warranty with our TripleLok.

We hope this will help in your decision; we wanted to try to keep our response short and to the point. We want you to be happy with whatever product you decide to go with. That is the ultimate goal here, for the customer’s FULL satisfaction of the product of ‘their’ choice. Not the product of ‘someone else’s’ choice.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or check out our web page, www.atsdiesel.com.

trans upgrade

I have the DTT valve body upgrade with the EZ box. Pulls my 24' Komfort 5th wheel, approx 8000 lbs with much better performance than stock.

Bkeibler,

You mentioned the addition of the exhaust brake for your braking needs, I would suggest a Triplelok torque converter from ATS along with a Triplelok Commander (along with other parts recommended to strengthen your transmission)

The Commander will allow you to lock up your converter at will, and it will also cooperate with your Exhaust brake.

Didnt I say not to have any transmission wars while I am deployed??? I finally find an Internet connection, check out the TDR, and I find this thread. I guess its good to know some things never change :D

Be NICE!

I've seen how more than one brand is built, as well as building them myself. There are many good reasons we at Black Mountain chose DTT. The biggest reason is one that counts the most, their unrivaled level of customer satisfaction. With that many satisfied customers for so many years, you know they're doing something right.

The single-disc DTT Storm torque converters are unlike anything else on the market. (if these TC's hold behind upwards of 750HP and in sled pulling trucks, without slipping, why do you need three discs? )

The torque covertors are built in a huge, modern, new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility so well-equipped, clean and organized, that it would put most NASCAR shops to shame, and they have more CNC machines at their disposal than I could count. They are built to Bill Kondolay's specifications, and are his own design, but factored into that is the huge amount of engineering expertise and mechanical experience of the company that makes them. This is not the same as TC's built in the corner of a transmission shop.

Tighter tolerances and accuracy are a benefit to having them professionally manufactured, as opposed to homemade.

A DTT is not simply a TC and valve body, but a complete transmission, no part of the transmission is ignored by Bill or his dealers. Tolerances, internal leaks, clutch material, everything is repaired or upgraded so it all works together to give the customer his or her money's worth.

Words on a computer screen are never enough to express the satisfaction DTT customers have with their trannies, and the customer service they experience.

Hey JC! Good to hear from you! Take care buddy!:)

I'm sorry, but when vendors come on here pushing their product, that's where these threads' credibility is shot. How bout we let the FOLKS give their opinions on the product, and leave the biased interests out of it.

transmission threads are *almost* as bad as politics.

Who are you refering to? ATS?- Dave Goerend? I'll take a torque converter personally built by Dave goerend in his shop (even in the corner) over any converter mass produced in any "modern, state of the art facility" Any machine is only as good as the person operating it.

As I recall, there was a representative from the remanufacturing company that makes DTT's converters post a while back. His post dealt with the surface areas of the converters they build for various companies. He mentioned several other companies converters that are also assembled at his plant. For some reason he deleted his post and to my knowledge he has never posted again. Makes you wonder why doesn't it?? Wouldn't it be nice to gain some knowledge from that person? Where did he go? Did someone tell him to remove his post and shut up?

Are DTT's converters still made at the same place?

Moderators, please don't delete this post because I think Hopper took a cheap shot Dave Goerend, who personaly builds his converters. Dave's quality is second to none, period
