transmission threads are *almost* as bad as politics.
My viewpoint is that of a mechanic that understands these transmissions and knows what works, more so than the viewpoint of simply being a vendor of the product.
We've heard plenty from FOLKS and consumers that like or dislike certain trannies they've purchased. It always comes back to the fact that it's a mechanical device, and buying one is basically an act of faith, when understanding of the device and the modifications isn't present in the mind of the consumer. I don't know about you, but I like to learn as much as I can before buying or deciding on a product. *(on edit: it has always come home to bite me when I didn't do my homework) * But in the end, what we have here is just opinions, with everyone expressing their own opinion. Instead of technical discussions, what we get is expressed opinions... .....
No "cheap shot" intended towards Dave Goerend. I've never met him or seen his shop, or his products. A lot of people seem to like him, his customers certainly do. Nothing wrong with that.
A machine is only as good as it's operator? Not always. The advantage to certain machines, is the amount of precision available by the removal of human error. And some machines are simply better than others.
Torque converters are only a small part of the equation anyway, how the transmission itself works is the key.
