Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission, Valve Body

I need to remove the valve body. Is there anything special I need to no before removing control linkage?

Block the wheels so truck can't roll as the rod that engages the park pawl is connected to the valve body and can be dislodged when removing the valve body. Also I would clean off as best you can the part of the valve body that sticks up through the side of the transmission so dirt/etc won't be pulled down through the oil seal, especially if you are going to reuse the seal. bg

Be careful with the small e-clip that retains the parking pawl shaft to the VB rooster comb. Getting it off isn't too bad, getting it on right can be tricky. BD makes a nifty little tool that helps tremendously - called the "hockey stick".

also download the BD diesel instruction for their valve bodies! very helpful. I've removed the valve body on my 47RE last weekend, done a very good and clean job! my first transmission job!
