I truly don't believe there are any transmission war threads, I think it all comes down to one company trying to persuade everyone on the TDR to buy their products.

I have no problem with a company telling us about a product but that's where they should leave it, just tell us and go, don't sit on this paid membership site and drill us to no end about something. It begins to look more like free advertising and that is not what the TDR is about. If someone wants advertising go to the advertising section and pay for it along with everyone else.

As far as parts go I don't care who's parts anyone use's, I am not a firm believer in anyones parts as all parts are man made and will break with enough stress or time. I really could care less if anyone uses bd-power parts. I really could care less if bd-power went out of business. What I do care about is new members coming on this site and being subjected to one sided selling techniques from one company. If the members who say they care the most about the other members would give open information on a variety of makers of the same parts then I think any thread war could be avoided. I have done this in just about every thread where someone asks for information about a product, yet I do not see it coming from one select group on the TDR.

This is my opinion, and like farts, some stink and some don't.

Ron

Ron-

Although I am pretty much a newbie still, I would like to make a comment. I personally enjoy some of the transmission threads, usually they're informative, sometimes entertaining, and always passionate! I agree there may be one or two that likes to stir the pot, but overall I think most try to tell it like it is, using their knowledge.

I have to disagree about any one company trying to sell their products. I see that Stefan is quick to offer his opinion on anything he feels is not true about his company. If other customers want to jump in and stand up for the company thats their right, and hopefully they're being honest, nothing Stefan can do about that. I have never seen a post on here by Bill since I joined, and in fact I have never spoken to him, personally or on the phone.

I think that if I had any kind of company that sells stuff, and see something I think is wrong, I will get on here and say so. Having said that, I will not get on here and call people names or try to villify other products to sell mine!

What I have seen is Stefan (never met him either in person) trying to correct something that is mistated and so far, unless I missed it, never seen him say anything really derogatory to anyone. His posts seem informative and to the point, although with my intimate knowledge of the inner workings of trannys, you could tell me they have wooden parts, I wouldn't know. But I imagine he's being truthful.

I would like to see all the transmission guys get into these posts and make informative remarks, maybe correcting others if something is wrong. Maybe they have and for some reason they quit and went away. That would have been before my time so I don't know.

I have said a couple times in posts that I have DTT stuff and I am very happy with them. My decision was based on reading in the TDR and picking one. Not to say that the others aren't just as good. I cannot honestly say that never having seen or used their parts, but I can say the DTT stuff is good stuff. I don't really think saying that is trying to sell their parts.

Let the guys hash it out, and if they argue, thats healthy, thats how things get done, when someone comes along and shows their behinds, everyone here is smart enough to recognize it and ignore them for the most part.

I personally like your posts because sometimes they are interesting and sometimes thought provoking. Notice I said thought provoking, not just provoking. Ones a good thing the other is not.

Well, that is my thought, nothing personal. Have a good day and enjoy your truck!

Robin

I see the same things you see, and it bothers me too Ronsram. Many times I have had to defend the Transmission Company of my choice (ATS) from deceitful, deliberate mis-statements made, NOT BY CUSTOMERS, but by DTT proponents, who have NEVER owned or even driven a truck with an ATS Trans.

I have never said bad things about DTT transmissions. I think they are good. Personally, I believe ATS offers more thorough engineering, and I have said that.

But plenty of people like their DTT trannys, and good for them. Why not.

There is room in this world for more than 1 Transmission Re-Builder!

**tongue in cheek post!!**

I just have a hard time buying stuff from men with pony-tail hairdo's... . with reference to that guy from ATS that was at TiM '02 (obviously I'm not sure who it was... ). :-laf

Sorry, I had to! :D

All the vendors had lots of good things to say... . and I'm thankful for having the opportunity to spend time with at least a few of them.

I agree that the threads do get out of hand - and it stinks that none of the vendors can get on here and say much of anything without being jumped on.

I did my research - lots of it, then I paid the cash. The TDR was invaluable for this decision. I had to do a lot of 'reading between the flames' on the transmission threads to get anything technical out of it... but in the end I learned a lot.

To each his own.

Matt - signature intentionally left out as to not over advertise my transmission.

Since I know that I have the very best transmission available, I'll also leave off my signature to prevent another "War"... :D

RRausch-you certainly have a short memory. My mother always told me if you couldn't say something good about someone (or something) don't say anything. Nuff said. :-{}

Works both ways Ron......

Because of your personal rift (self admitted) with DTT you are one of the first to jump on all the transmission threads to steer people away from them. It wasn't until recently, out of guilt maybe, that you included them in your list of vendors. While I commend you for trying to take a neutral stance it becomes obvious in your posts that you are just anti DTT.

I don't see advertising, I see loyal customers. This is for all brands, For $3K+ in transmission work you'd better be loyal. At the moment DTT happens to have more customers that frequent the TDR, that may shift in years to come, what happens then?? If ATS had more loyal customers would they then become "The Pack"??

People are people, when the new kid on the block moves in they will always have to prove themselves to be accepted, this is human nature.

What I dislike most is when people intentionally go into threads to see what trouble they can stir up. These trolls only have one purpose, and it's not to add any technical help to those threads. I'm sure Edward will be salivating when he sees another thread with transmission in the title.

The best thing is we have power of choice, if these threads bother you stay out of them! If someone bugs you put them on ignore in the user control panel!

I enjoy reading the transmission wars as it is entertaining, the only thing that would be better would be owing a 5 speed truck and reading the auto posts. JimK

WTF? I don't understand why all of you DTT croanies have to make personal attacks against people. Is it that your equipment is so sub-standard that you have to go after the competition on a personal level because that's all you have left? Seems to be the case.

Since when did having long hair or a ponytail have anything to do with engineering a product. Perhaps you have a more personal problem with "that guy" because you have no hair??? Jealousy is an emotion that comes out in your kind every time you are confronted with a superior product, person, etc, and you handle it by making personal attacks. Give it a rest!

Why the h**l can't the staff/moderators here at the TDR do something about this kind of crap!?!? I thought that it was in your rulebook not to allow personal attacks - or rather is it "no personal attacks - unless it's against ATS or one of their supporters". Give me a f'n break!!!

Steve, I'll save you the trouble. Strike one for Joel... Even you have to see that this is a load of s**t! I defy you to do something about it! Does the TDR get a kickback for letting this kind of rhetoric continue?

Now Jim you know you don't want to shift those gears;) I may be down in 2 weeks... . I've got a present being sent in the mail.

As for the rest of you who ever you are, don't throw stones at glass houses... be the pot that calls the kettle black... . ect. This thread is on the way to getting locked:D

Jim

Joel,

Relax a little man. Matt was joking. He usually is. If you ever met him, you'd understand. He just likes to have a good time like the rest of us.

No one actually believes a man's hairstyle affects his ability to rebuild transmissions.

I got a chuckle out of Matt's post as I'm sure others did as well.

It's even more funny to me thought that you jumped in to defend that statement and started calling DTT owners "croanies. "

haha.

Lighten up!

Or a 6-speed :D

Joel Richards,, this is for you!

Come to Muncie!,, You will meet the Big Dogs of the Diesel World.

The biggest names in Diesel HP will be there.

You could meet, along with other people,, Piers, the Kondolays, Eric McBride, HVAC, Strick-9, J. R. Adkins, HolshotHolset, Rob_Thomas, TxDieselKid, the the TDR Admin. Steve St. Laurent, and Robin. These are only a few names I can list off the top of my head, and I have a handfull of other names that are not sure if they are attending.

After a weekend in Muncie,, your view of TDR Will CHANGE,, this site will feel much closer to a family with opinions, than a big advertisment.

ATS, DTT, Goerend, Suncoast,, Whatever makes you happy! It's your obsession, and just 'cause Matt pokes fun at the Long Hair guy, doesn't mean he don't like him.

I know Matt's stand on Auto Trannies, and believe me, it's not even close to what we are arguing about here.

Joel,, calm down, and take TDR a little less serious. It's a great place for technical info, and there is a place for some "Pokes and giggles" on the side,, esapecially when the threads are taking a super serious note.

Have fun. Slow down, Enjoy life. You only have one chance at it.

Merrick Cummings Jr.

P. S. I'll leave my sig off, just for the sake of this thread.

See what I meant about folks being wired tight about trannys... ... ..... or is it the pony tail band that is too tight, ROFLMAO!!!:-laf :-laf IT'S A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

Joel no offensense dude but I think your're the only one that saw HoleshotHolset comment as a jab. Don't do that to yourself over a truck man(or a pony tail!), it ain't worth it!:D :)

Glenn

Well...

He can have a pony tail on each bun if that what moves him; however, I prefer my transmission guy to have SHORT hair. (Hi Chris)

WOW, Merrick actually has a good point. :-laf

Matt didn't mean anything from that post, as was stated, but why do you group all DTT owners as "cronies"?

I have never really read, or paid attention to the transmission wars, just not worth the time i think. There is technical info passed along through the threads, but you have to sort out through the B. S. , and flames to get to it. I got better ways to waste my time these days.
