I have a1998 12 valve , I think it is A 47R auto transmission . sometimes when the truck sits for a few days & i start it , you can feel the transmission go in but the truck does'nt start to move very good , if I give it full throttle it will get to going pretty quick, but i don't like to do that , if i give it some time it will then move on out, kinda like it slips a lot. I'm talking about this problem in warm weather , so I know cold had nothing to do with it . if i use the truck every day it's ok, transmission is solid & shifts well, Help ,,,,,, some body ( this is my first post for help so bear with me ,, thanks. .

Welcome to the TDR Don. What you are describing is not "normal" but it is common. The check valve in your torque converter is allowing the fluid to drain out while it sits for a while. If you let the truck sit for a few days, then go to use it put the transmission in neutral for a minute before trying to go anywhere. That will give the transmission time to pump fluid into the torque converter and operate normally. No worries. Someone more knowledgeable than me will hopefully chime in here and tell you how to permanently fix it.

By the way, the 47xx transmissions do not pump hardly any fluid in park. If you want to cool the transmission fluid or fill the TC quicker, put it in neutral at idle.
