Does anyone know if a 98 5 speed will fit in the 96? In driving my 96 5 speed I've noticed it has a longer throw than the wifes 98? I love the short shift the 98 has. If I could get the short shift the "cup smoothie" would not be in the way. Like it is in my truck the shifter hits the cup holder. Well really my little finger gets caught between the holder and the shifter knob.



Anybody know?

The 5 spd in 96 and 98 (actually 94-2001) is the NV 4500.

Should it fit? Yes

If 98 5 spd has shorter throw something inside of trans had to be changed and I 'm not an expert on transmission's so my guess would be different shifter/linkage/shifting forks.



Try e-mailing Dodge, New Venture, or Standard Transmission one or all should know why the throw is shorter/longer.
