Trany Options.

Well i made some phone calls on lunch. I am going to be adding 370 injectors and a 3000 governer kit. Well the stock trany is not going to hold that kind of power so i need to upgrade my trany befor i get BOMB crazy. I called 4 places. This is what each one suggested i upgrade with and prices. Tell me what you think.



DTT:

New VB $375 -$200 core

New TC $925 -$200 core

Upgrade kit $275

Total $1175



ATS:

New VB $400

New TC $1370

TST:

New VB $125

Trans Rebuild kit $300

New TC $900 -200 core

I have no preference on which setup you use ( I would recommend any of them) but the numbers are incorrect. I know you said you called them but either they did not understand your question or something. When everything is installed and all your old parts sent back they should all be within a few dollars of each other, I know I just did the same thing myself right before Christmas.



I just looked and I see what the problem was, you have a whole complete transmission plus converter in one estimate and just parts on the other estimates. If you compare rebuild to rebuild or complete transmission to complete transmission the prices will be about the same.



Good luck with which ever one you choose and be patient if it is not perfect cause they all need fine tuneing to get the way you want it to shift.



One more tip: get a complete quote in writeing for everything involved with the swap and that includes any fine tuneing or you might be spending some big bucks just to get it to perform to your standards.

That is what each place recomended for my application.

Bd said they dont sell a rebuild kit like DTT or TST. I am doing it myself so their will be a little learning curve. How long did it take you to get yours tuned?

Well i just got off the phone with the man him self. Man he realy knows his stuff. :--) I am sold on DTT. Now al i need is the $. He told me when i go to do the trans not to be afraid to call him if i have a second thought about something. He is not in the busnes to sell trany's he is in the busnes to make the dodge more enjoyable to drive.

Here's a bit of advice for you. I did the same thing two years ago that you are doing now. I had never seen the inside of the transmission before other than when changing the VB. My advice is to call him MUCH more than you think you need to.



I know he would much rather spend a few hours on the phone with you explaining stuff than he would paying someone to fix it later, or sending you multiple TC's each time you botch an install.



I wish you the best of luck, but don't be bashful about calling. I was and it ended up costing both Bill and me lots of extra money and time.

Are you sure the core charges should be backed out??



I thought the price of the VB was $375. 00 ; not 175. 00 ...

so you'd be billed $575. 00 for the VB and returned $200. 00.....



If those prices are right, I might do something sooner.

Yes i figured it wrong It is supposed to be 575 for the Vb then a 200 core. Same with the TC 1125 then the core of 200. So the actual total is 1575 i am going to change it so it dose not miss lead some one. Yes i plan on calling bill if i have the slightest second thought. I dont want to fry a trany. As soon as my bonus and taxes come back i'll be set.
