Well folk's I got my trans rebuilt less than 2 months ago. And ever since then it hasn't been right. Just last week I got the trans temp gauge pegged out past 280*just city driving stop and go, and no load in the bed, no pulling trailers either.

Heres what it took to get it back too the shop that rebuilt it. First of all, 1st gear froze up like you put it in park, I got lucky with using 2nd gear to take off at the red lights. Next I had to shift from 2nd to Drive to catch 3rd gear (which would slam into lock up, from 2nd), and to make shure that the Over drive button was off, because it would skip past 3rd and slam hard into 4th lock up. Next, in order to go from 3rd to 4th, I would just hit the OD button, and smack 4th from 3rd .

When I got to the shop, I made the shop owner drive the truck to let him know that I was dissatisfied, that he would know what I was talking about. I warned him to watchout when he put it in drive and start to take off, it would go straight too 3rd, and then 4th real quick.

Does anyone know ,from what I have described, what really happened and what damage may have occured being that it got too 280* plus?

I forgot to metion that the first time this shop rebuilt the trans , that they cut all of the old 1/2" lines out completely, and bypassed the heat exchange unit, and run 3/8" lines straight from the transmission to an aftermarket tubular cooler and back too the transmission. Could this be the main problem that caused it to fail like it did? Thanks Guys

Here's a dedicated transmission forum that I've found to be invaluable: transmission Forum . There are a number of professional rebuilders who monitor those forums - they saved me around $1k in tips and diagnosis the last time I had a problem.
