Ford Power?

I just signed up as a volunteer for the new travel companion program. I think this is a wonderful idea. I have often wondered what I would do or who I could call if my truck broke down or needed some assistance when I am far from home. This is really the good neighbor idea. We can all use the help of someone when we are traveling. I look forward to helping anyone in need or just meeting new people, and I know that if I need help I can find someone in the TDR group to lend a hand. Thanks again TDR for being such a great aid and source of information for our Dodge Rams.

Trailer Towning?

I looked at the Traval Companion, and put it under the back seat of the truck so it would be there if I need it. I didn't notice if it had an option for someone who could help tow a trailer/RV if the truck broke down. Getting a tow truck to move the truck isn't that hard to do, but what am I supposed to do with my 5er along side the hightway. It would be nice if the Traval Companion could list members who are capable and willing to tow a stranded trailer.

Klenger, I know what you mean. I think that would be an option they could add. I certanly would not mind pulling someones trailer home and then getting the truck to my house to fix. Maybe we can tell the people at TDR to look into adding that option. I will look into it.

towing assistance

You are right on tow assistance. Would have been a great added feature to the list. For me, that is one good reason to have good tow insurance. As an example mine will send a second truck to tow my RV if necessary. And after my last breakdown on the side of road, tow insurance has been worth the money.

Maybe it's just me but I thought any tdr CTD owner would gladly tow that trailer and anything else you could attach to it. I personally would not give it a second thought. ;)

DavidC:

Not all members are setup for 5ers or gooseneck towing. That's why I thougt the extra info would be helpful. I'm not very mechanical, so I can't be of much assistance with fixing someone's truck, but would be glad to offer towing assistance, transportation, or just a few kind words for someone in trouble.

This is a great group.

Not setup?

What!!. I did not think anyone with a cummins could possibly not be set up to pull anything found on the side of the road or anyplace else. How could this possibly happen?. Seriously I see your point as I could handle the travel trailer or 5th but not a gooseneck. I guess they might be able to add three more columns to put a check mark for each category a person could handle. Sounds like a great idea to me.

I wrote a letter to Robert Patton and suggested he add the part about being able to pull a 5th wheel or goose neck trailer. I know that any TDR member would be glad to help out if he had the correct hitch.
